Sanne Beijerman is a certified sports psychologist, Grand Prix dressage rider, and the founder of a scientifically proven mental training method for equestrians.
For over 25 years, she has guided ambitious riders around the world from passionate amateurs to elite professionals toward consistent performance and sustainable success, both in and out of the arena.
Her method helps equestrians across all disciplines develop confidence, resilience, and focus, while rediscovering flow, inner calm, and the joy of riding. Her clients achieve their goals in true partnership with their horse performing at their best when it truly matters.
This is where performance meets harmony, and goals become reality.
Sanne began her career as a professional dressage rider with a clear ambition: to reach the top of the sport. Riding up to ten horses a day and working full-time at a competition stable, she qualified for the Dutch National Championships Small Tour after winning every selection convincingly.
Yet at the championship itself, stress took over.
Surrounded by elite competitors, doubt crept in during the warm-up. Communication with her horse deteriorated, and despite entering the arena with an all-or-nothing mindset, the test unraveled. The result was devastating.
That moment changed everything.
It became clear that this was not a technical failure it was a mental one. The horse was capable. The rider was capable. They could do it. But unmanaged pressure affected the communication.
This realization became the foundation of her life’s work.
A Scientifically Proven Method for Equestrian Performance
Driven to find answers, Sanne shifted her career path and completed a university degree in Philosophy and Sports Psychology, graduating cum laude. She conducted groundbreaking scientific research into the mental skills of elite equestrian athletes.
Her research included Olympic-level dressage, show jumping, and eventing riders who competed at the Sydney Games.
The results showed significant differences between elite and less succesfull riders in:
Most importantly, the research confirmed one crucial insight:
Elite mental skills in equestrian sport are trainable.

In a split second before a jump, doubt could take over — “This is going to go wrong.” My body would react instantly, I’d tense up, and everything I’d trained for was at risk.
Through Sanne Beijerman’s method, I learned how to stay focused in those decisive moments. That focus is the difference between fear and trust, between a misstep and a powerful, confident jump.
Based on this research, Sanne developed a structured mental training system tailored exclusively to equestrian sport addressing the unique dynamics of working with a living, thinking partner.
Her method trains five essential mental skills that enable riders to:
Since founding her practice, riders from all disciplines, levels, and countries have benefited from this approach creating a clear and lasting impact on both performance and partnership.
Sanne believes that true performance in equestrian sport starts with self-awareness.
Only riders who can regulate themselves in high-pressure situations while staying attuned to what their horse needs can develop a genuine partnership and achieve sustainable long-term success.
This philosophy applies at every level:
Because in equestrian sport, performance is never just individual it is always shared.

“I was competing at M-level and was very eager to move up to Z dressage. I’m highly motivated and disciplined, but at competitions this caused me to push even harder. My horse responded by shutting down in the arena, which made me ride even more until I completely lost the joy in my sport. With Sanne Beijerman’s method, I learned how to stay connected to my horse and ride in competitions the same way I do at home. It is really helpfull that Sanne is also a trainer so the mental skills and technical training are alligned. We are now successfully competing at Z level, I truly enjoy the sport again, and we have achieved scores above 72%.”

What Riders Say About Working With Sanne
When I started the online training, fear was controlling my riding. I felt insecure and tense, and I didn’t dare to ride in the outdoor arena — let alone canter.
Through the course, I learned how to deal with my negative thoughts and was given clear, supportive tools to rebuild my confidence step by step. Also the breathing techniques were incredibly valuable.
Today, I’m riding in the outside arena again and I’ve even hiked out once. Most importantly, I trust myself again. My confidence continues to grow, even though it’s been some time since I completed the training.

“I have a very sensitive mare, and my dream was to compete at Small Tour level. When I was riding Z-level dressage, I noticed that I would stop riding the moment my horse built up tension. That only made her more insecure, and I couldn’t ride the tests the way I wanted to.
Sanne Beijerman tought me how to keep riding and how to truly support my horse during those tense moments in competition. As a result, I achieved my dream goal of competing at Small tour level. I dont think that would have been possible without the support from Sanne”.

“I’ve known Sanne since my pony years, when I first worked with her to improve my focus and sharpness. As a young-rider, when my best horse got injured and I had to compete with less experienced horses. I started doubting myself. This had a negative impact on my performance. It was a difficult time in my carreer. Sanne helped me once again by showing me how to turn my negative thoughts into a positive mindset, allowing me to enter the arena with confidence. Through my work with her I could clearly see my career goals again. Despite her busy schedule, she always takes the time for you and truly makes you feel supported.”

Sanne’s mission is to make elite mental training accessible to every rider who wants to grow mentally, emotionally, and as a partner to their horse.
Through her online programs and coaching trajectories, riders worldwide can now access the same mental skills used by top-level equestrian athletes.
